S. BILLIE MANDLE

S. Billie Mandle is an artist from Northern California. She uses photography to connect perception, history, and the felt intimacy of a place. Her work has been supported by fellowships from Yaddo, Light Work, the New York Foundation for the Arts, the Massachusetts Cultural Council, and the University of California Los Angeles Archives. Her books include, Reconciliation (Kehrer Verlag, 2020), Stellar Skytron (Dust Collective, 2020), abd Circumference (Dust Collective, 2024). Mandle’s work is held in several public collections including the Boston Athenaeum, the Museum of Fine Arts Boston, the Addison Gallery of American Art, the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, the Getty Institute Library, and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art Library. She received a BA in biology from Williams College and an MFA from Massachusetts College of Art and Design. Prior to joining the faculty at MassArt, she taught at Hampshire College.
